    • Process R&D is vital in the development of pharmaceuticals and therapies yet more and more companies are being put under pressure to reduce time, costs and risk associated with process R&D to make treatments widely available and accessible to patients. In this article, Maria Andrielou, marketing & communication, and Thanos Andreou, scientific affairs, at VIO Chemicals, give their views on how to get the best out of process R&D.Pharmaceutical process research and development (R&D) is indispensable in the development of personalised medicines and innovative treatments that deal effectively with diseases. In order to make treatments widely available and accessible to patients, the pressure to demonstrate improved outcomes at lower costs is getting higher. This is particularly true when Europe faces increasing competition from emerging economies, such as Brazil and China.1

This is where contract research and development organisations (CDMOs) can play a critical role in helping drug makers develop competitive processes without patent infringement risks and short time-to-market. But first things first…

    • I have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences on prions and then transitioned to the infectious diseases and diagnostic domain. I am a Health improvement driven life sciences specialist with over 10 years in project management (academic, hospital, INGO). I conducted a wide range of projects (scientific, medical, infrastructure, laboratory, public health, QA) due to my curiosity/adaptability and willingness to learn and develop my skills. Problem solver who keeps looking for improvement and optimization. I completed my projects in due time and in the respect of the budgets. Open-minded manager who looks at working with his team ensuring proficiency and efficacy to achieve organizational objectives.

I have spent almost 4 years in a low income country in south east asia as country manager and scientific project manager for an INGO. I am now looking to relocate to France (ideally Paris and the surroundings) and to switch to the Biotech / Pharma sector.

I am looking for a thrilling new job where I can learn and develop new skills and share and used the knowledge and skills I already own. If you want to know more about me don't hesitate to contact me. Any leads would be really appreciated.
      Best regards

      Laurent

    • Hello! I am a recent PhD graduate in Biomedicine with a focus on Stem Cell Biology from Lund University, Sweden. My research work revolved around neural stem cells and the role of their regulators in brain tumor development. I have a purely academic background in stem cell biology and molecular biology and I am trying to transition to industry. I am also a copyeditor. I am looking for entry level opportunities in Life Science, more specifically in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Control, Project Management, Process Management, or as a Medical/Scientific Writer or Technical Coordinator. I would be willing to relocate. After so many years in academia, I want to at last contribute tangibly to healthcare and be part of something bigger and more meaningful. Any leads would be highly appreciated! Best regards, Isabelle.

    • Forming a stable dispersion of the local anesthetic n‐butyl‐p aminobenzoate ( Butamben) for epidural administration.

The purpose of this study is to form a uniform, stable suspension
of n‐butyl‐p‐aminobenzoate which can be used
for epidural administration. All additives used should be approved
for injection in the human body. When precipitated, the particles should be
able to give a homogenous suspension after shaking. Particles produced with
three methods will be compared based on size, release, shape and injectability
through the catheter. The methods used are a microfluidic system.

To produce uniform and stable microparticles a new developed technology
from EmulTech Eindhoven can be used. In this technology, different micro-channels
cross each other, forming the micro‐particles in the outgoing channel.

My question is (What is the best stabilizer that I can used in this
suspense?) Knowing that the size of the particles
      must be (1-10) micrometer.

      Any ideas??????
