Job Description

As the Science and Engagement Manager within Pharmaceutical Sciences you will be responsible for developing, leading and delivering coordinated communication plans that positively impact AstraZeneca's culture, employee engagement and performance.

 

Working within a dynamic environment you will directly support the VP of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Head of Business Planning and Operations and the Leadership Team to develop direct science engagement and communications for internal and external activities. You will drive the monthly reporting, and various science events for the department. You will also work closely with the Science Engagement Network (SEN) Team within Biopharmaceuticals R&D and Oncology R&D, as well as Corporate Affairs.

 

Typical Accountabilities

  • Build and develop communication content and materials for both internal and external events, ensuring full engagement of the Pharmaceutical Sciences organisation across the globe
  • Engage, influence and collaborate across boundaries with delivery focus and a problem solving attitude
  • Engage and energise colleagues with our priorities and report progress
  • Drive community building and standard methodology sharing
  • Responsible for team inputs into Pharmaceutical Sciences Communications within Biopharmaceuticals R&D and Oncology R&D, as well as Corporate Affairs.
  • Responsible for inputs into monthly SET reports and Town Halls
  • Actively seek out and promote the Science stories, Post Cards and communication around publications and successes
  • Lead and facilitate the development of relevant content for the Pharmaceutical Sciences Nucleus page, SPOL, Workplace, and other platforms and communication channels as is appropriate
  • Drives the material for communication of scorecard content during the year

Essential

  • MS in Life Science
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or related field
  • Some communications experience
  • Experience managing communications professionals
  • Ability to understand and interpret scientific and medical data
  • First-rate coordination, collaboration, organisation and multi-tasking skills
  • Detailed knowledge of sales operations

 

Desirable

  • Experience with sales, marketing and commercial communications
  • Corporate and internal communications experience
  • Experience in a leadership support role
  • PhD in Life science
  • Scientific in-depth knowledge in Pharmaceutical Sciences
